Why would anyone not have a will?
• A family could suffer acute financial hardship if there is not a valid will in place. Delays in dispersing the assets of an estate can run into years if a clear valid will has not been written
• Spouses, as you may have expected, may not receive everything and unmarried partners, friends and charities will almost certainly receive nothing
• The Courts may appoint a guardian for your children be cause you
didn’t bother to write a Will and it will be the Courts choice what happens to them, not yours
• If you are not married to your partner then he or she will NOT
inherit your estate
• Family arguments nearly always arise over who should get personal
belongings and what type of funeral should be arranged. Is this fair
on a grieving family?
• Complicated rules exist which means if a person dies without a Will
a surviving husband or wife will not necessarily get everything
